Hi! I’m Almira, Practice Manager at Tallgrass Animal Urgent Care. My journey in veterinary medicine began in small animal general practice and quickly led me into specialty ophthalmology, where I was able to expand my knowledge of veterinary care, client service, and practice operations.

I was born in California and raised in Las Vegas, where I attended UNLV as a collegiate golfer until God led me down a different path—motherhood. There, I found what I consider my greatest calling.

Life has taken me down many different avenues and allowed me to pursue a lot of different interests, but through all of them, I’ve learned that people really do make people happy. I love connecting with others, serving my community, and having the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of those around me.

I’m grateful to have a hand in what we’re building at Tallgrass and to be part of a team that genuinely cares for the people and pets who walk through our doors. My hope is that with every client we meet, we’re able to leave a little piece of our heart with them.

I was raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where I developed a strong work ethic from a young age. At 15, I began working as a hired hand for a veterinarian and horse trainer, gaining valuable hands-on experience and steadily expanding my knowledge of animal care.

Throughout my life, I have been passionate about helping animals, rescuing everything from farm animals to small wildlife whenever possible. That passion has continued into adulthood and remains a driving force in both my personal and professional life.

My lifelong dream has been to work with animals. Over the years, I have traveled to several states and had the opportunity to work alongside many veterinarians, allowing me to gain a wide range of experience and perspectives within the field. I’m passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care and building strong bonds with every animal I work with. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a supportive and dedicated organization such as Tallgrass Urgent Care.

I’ve been a part of the Tallgrass Veterinary team for the past 9 months, bringing with me 4 years of experience working in general practice. My experience in veterinary medicine has given me a strong passion for providing compassionate, high-quality care to both pets and their families.

I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health and Behavior with the goal of becoming a zoologist. I’m especially passionate about animal behavior and learning more about the care, conservation, and well-being of animals of all kinds. My experience in veterinary medicine has given me a strong foundation that I hope to carry with me into my future career working with wildlife.

When I’m not at work or studying, I enjoy spending time with my family and going fishing. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, but I’ve always had a love for animals and feel incredibly fortunate to work with them every day.
